Baccarat Tutorial
Needed
Eight card decks; something to make bets with such as poker chips
Deal
Two hands of two cards are dealt. The first and third card go to the Player’s hand. The second and fourth card go to the Banker’s hand.
Objective
The objective of the game is to correctly bet on which hand will have a value closer to nine. A bettor could bet that the hands will tie.
Card Values
King/Queen/Jack: 10
10-2: Face Value
Ace: 1
When adding the cards of a hand together, the total never goes over nine. Instead, the first digit of a total over nine is dropped. For example, the Player hand of seven of diamonds and six of spades equals 13. The first digit is dropped giving the Player hand a value of three.
Game Play
Before the hands are dealt, each bettor in the game will place a bet. The bettor can bet that the banker’s hand will win or that the player’s hand will win. There is also an option to bet that the hands will be tied.
The two hands are dealt. The value of each hand is calculated. The hands may receive a third card based on the value of the hand.
There are strict rules that determine if a hand gets a third card or not. These rules are always the same which eliminates any decision making involved during a hand in Baccarat.
Natural Win: If the Player or the Banker have a hand value of 9 or 8, the hand wins the round. No cards are drawn.
Player Draw Rules: The player will hit (draw a third card) or stand (not draw a third card) based on the value of the first two cards dealt.
Value of 6-7: Stand
Value of 0-5: Hit
Banker Draw Rules if Player Stands:
Value of 6-7: Stand
Value of 0-5: Hit

Value of 7: Stand
Value of 3-6: See Below Table
Value of 0-2: Hit
