Conquian Tutorial

Needed

40 card deck (Aces up to 7s and Jacks to Kings); two players

Deal

Each player is dealt ten cards, one card at a time.

Card Rank

Highest to lowest - K, Q, J, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, A

Objective

The object of the game is to meld 11 cards into sets or sequences. A set is three or four cards with the same rank. A sequence is three or more cards in order with the same suit.

Note that the 7 and jack are in sequence, and the ace is always low.

Game Play

The non-dealer goes first by drawing the top card of the remaining deck. The only way a drawn card can be kept is if the card is used in a meld. A meld is laid down for all players to see. A player’s turn ends by discarding a card.

Play moves to the dealer who can choose to take the discard or the top card from the deck. The discard can only be taken if it is immediately used in a meld.

Players continue to take turns, either drawing the top discard if it can be melded or the top card from the deck. Players can only keep a drawn card if it can be melded.

Win

The first player to meld 11 cards wins the game.

Rules

  • Players can force their opponent to draw the discarded card if the opponent can meld it to an existing meld.

  • If the draw deck runs out before a player has melded 11 cards, the game ends in a tie.
