Go Boom Tutorial

Needed

52 card deck; two to seven players

Deal

Each player is dealt seven cards, one card at a time.  The remaining deck is placed into the middle.

Objective

The object of the game is to be the first player to get rid of all your cards in hand.  Go Boom is a trick-taking card game.  A trick is created by each player playing a card into the middle.  The player who plays the highest ranking card in the suit that was led wins the trick and gets to lead the card to the next trick.

Card Rank

Highest to lowest

Ace, King, Queen, Jack, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2

Game Play

The player left of the dealer will play the first card to the first trick.  Play moves clockwise left to the next player.  After the lead card, players must play a card in the same suit as the lead card, or a card in the same rank.

If a player is unable to play a card in the same suit or rank as the lead card, the player will draw the top card of the remaining deck.  The player will continue to draw the top card of the remaining deck until a card is drawn that can be played.  When a card is drawn that can be played, the card is played.

The player that played the highest ranking card in the lead suit wins the trick.  The player that wins the trick will lead the next trick.

Play continues until a player is able to get rid of his/her last card.  When playing their last card, the player will announce, “Boom!”

Scoring

At the end of a round, players will score their card amount left in their hands.

Aces = 1 point,

2s through 10s = face value (for example, a 5 is worth 5 points)

Royals = 10 points

Once a player hits 100 points or more, the game is over.  At that point, the player with the lowest score wins the game!

Rule

A player must draw cards until being able to play.  If the draw deck runs out with a player not being able to play, the player will not play to the trick.
