Pictionary Tutorial

Needed

Three or more players; Pictionary board game

Setup

The game is setup with the players dividing into two to four teams.

Fill the card holder with cards making sure the cards of the same color are facing the same way. The cards and timer are placed on the side of the board.

Each team will get a drawing pad and pencil and choose a game piece to put on the start space.

Objective

The object of the game is to be the first team to reach the finish space and guess a sketch correctly. Players will move around the board by rolling the dice after correctly guessing a sketch.

Game Play

Each team will pick one player on their team to be the first picturist. The Picturist is the player that will sketch the answer word during the round.

During the game, there will be turns where all teams will participate and other turns where only one team is sketching. All teams will participate in sketching when the board space is orange with four pencils or when the answer on the card has the four pencil image next to it. These are known as all plays.

The start space is an all play. The first answer card is drawn, and each team's picturist will look at the answer word. The word to be sketched is the one in the color of the matching space on the board.

The timer is flipped, and the picturists begin to sketch. The other players try and guess the image being sketched. The first team to announce the correct answer wins the round. The team that correctly guesses the answer gets to roll the dice and move the number of spaces rolled. This team will also draw the next card.

The team will sketch the answer word that matches the color board space they landed on. If it is an all play, all teams participate. If it is not an all play, only the team that picked the card will participate in this round.

If a team guesses correctly before the timer runs out, they will roll again and draw a card again. If the timer runs out before a team guesses the correct answer, the play moves clockwise left to the next team to draw a card and take a turn.

Winning

The first team to reach the finish space on the board and correctly get the final answer wins the game. A team does not need to roll the exact number when moving to the finish space.

Rules

A team cannot use the same picturist for two turns in a row.

The winner of an all play gets to roll the dice, move their game piece, and take the next turn.

If a team does not correctly guess the answer before the time runs out, the play moves to the next team to the left. This team will draw a card and sketch the answer matching the space they are in.

When sketching, the picturist cannot draw ears for sounds like, dashes for number of letters, letters, or numbers. The picturist cannot speak to teammates or use sign language.
