Straight Shooter Tutorial

Needed

Six dice; pen and paper for scorekeeping

Setup

Each player will roll one die to start. The player that rolls the highest number gets the first turn in game play.

Objective

The object of the game is to be the first player to score 100 points. Points are scored by rolling six dice and being rewarded based on the sequence of numbers rolled.

Game Play

Each turn, a player will roll all six dice. Based on the numbers rolled, the player will score points (see scoring table below). A sequence that starts with a 1 will score points. The longer the sequence, the more points are scored. For example, if a player rolls a 1, 2, 2, 3, 6, 6, the player has a sequence of 1, 2, 3 for 10 points. Play moves clockwise.

Scoring table

Sequence - Points

  • 1, 2 - 5 points

  • 1, 2, 3 - 10 points

  • 1, 2, 3, 4 - 15 points

  • 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 - 20 points

  • 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 - 25 points

Winner

The first player to score 100 or more points.

Rules

  • A roll with no 1 scores no points.

  • A roll with a 1, but no 2, scores no points.

  • If a player rolls three 1s in a roll, the player’s score returns to zero.
