Tri-Peaks Solitaire Tutorial

Needed

52 card deck

Setup

The game is setup by placing three cards face down to form three peaks. Then, two face down cards are placed slightly overlapping each of the three peak cards. Then, face down cards are placed slightly overlapping the previous cards laid. Finally, a row of face up cards are placed slightly overlapping the previously placed cards.

The remaining deck remains face down at the bottom of the card layout. The top card of the remaining deck is flipped up to start your discard pile.

Objective

The object of the game is to get all the cards from the trip-peaks layout into your discard pile. A card from the layout can be moved to the discard pile when the card being moved is one rank higher or one rank lower than the top discard rank showing.

Game Play

Play begins with the player discarding any face up cards from the layout, if possible. When a face down card no longer has any other card overlapping it, the card becomes open. An open card can be flipped face up.

When there are no cards from the layout that can be discarded, the top card of the deck is flipped onto the discard pile. The player will then go back to discarding from the layout, if possible.

Play continues this way with the player discarding from the layout when possible or flipping from the deck when needed.

Winning

If the player is able to get all the cards from the trip-peaks layout into the discard pile, the game is won. If the player's deck runs out and no more available moves can be made, the game is lost.

Rules

The ace rounds the corner, meaning a king can be played on an ace, or an ace can be played on a king.
