Understanding the Farkle Rules: A Quick Refresher
Before we dive deeper, let’s cover the Farkle rules to ensure you're playing the game as it was meant to be enjoyed. Farkle is a dynamic dice game where players roll six dice, aiming to collect points based on specific combinations. It combines luck, strategy, and a bit of risk management.
Basic Setup
Players: 2 or more
Dice: 6 standard six-sided dice
Objective: Be the first to reach 10,000 or more points
Game Play Summary
Players take turns rolling all six dice.
After each roll, they set aside scoring dice and decide whether to roll the remaining dice.
Points are tallied based on the dice set aside.
If a roll results in no scoring combinations, it’s a Farkle. You lose the points for that turn.
To get on the board, your first scoring roll must be at least 500 points.
Common Scoring Combinations:
Understanding how points are scored is essential to mastering Farkle. Here's a breakdown of the most important scoring combinations you'll need to know—no table needed, just simple explanations:
Single 1s are worth 100 points each.
Single 5s are worth 50 points each.
Three of a kind of 1s score 300 points.
Three of a kind of any other number (2s through 6s) is worth 100 times the face value.
For example, three 2s score 200 points, three 4s score 400 points, and so on.
Four of a kind earns 1,000 points.
Five of a kind gives you 2,000 points.
Six of a kind adds a massive 3,000 points.
A straight, which means rolling all six numbers from 1 to 6 in a single roll, gives you 1,500 points.
Rolling three pairs (like two 2s, two 4s, and two 6s) in one roll scores 1,500 points as well.
If you manage to roll two sets of three of a kind (like three 2s and three 5s), you’ll earn 2,500 points.
If you roll and can’t make any scoring combination at all, that’s called a Farkle and you lose all the points you were trying to bank that turn!
To win, a player must reach or exceed 10,000 points, then all other players get one final turn to try and surpass the leader.

Know When to Stop
The biggest decision in Farkle is knowing when to stop rolling. Risk too much, and you could Farkle away a strong round.
Go for High-Value Combinations
Don’t settle for 50s when bigger combinations are possible. Always prioritize keeping 1s, triples, and straights.
Memorize Scoring Patterns
